twittertipsTwitter is a social networking site most of us use on a daily basis sharing your message within 140 characters. While Twitter is pretty straight forward on facilitating a conversation, here are 5 helpful Twitter tips that you can use that you might not have known.

Local Search

You can search for anything near you by adding near:”city state”. For example, typing near:”Spokane Washington” golf would return current tweets that have happened in Spokane, Washington with the keyword golf in them.

Search Without Links

If you do not want tweets with links add ? -filter:links at the end of your search query.

Save a Search

You can “Save this search” to save any search you did that you want to keep for later. These searches can then be found under the “Searches” tab next to your timeline.

Who Sees Your @Mentions

Using the @mention at the beginning of a tweet makes that tweet only visable to you, that person, and anyone that follows you both. If you put anything before your @mention all of your followers will see it no matter what else is in the tweet so let’s take a look at examples:
